Plates and wood were the objects that I used while creating this piece. I scraped and pulled the paint with the wood. I used the plates to define the rings. Symbolically the rings portray an out of balance yin and yang depiction.

I started with the drips and then applying heavy paint thinner controlling the direction of the paint flow. Labored over flip flopping the canvas to develop the drips and the beautiful rainbow colors appeared. Abstractly, it looks like a person looking over their shoulder with their hair blowing in the wind.

A drip technique is used to form lines and color that brings forward a profile of man and a spirit guide. A drip technique is also used to form a vibrant waterfall of color. Embedded in the waterfall is the face of a questing man whose energy is synchronized with that of the waterfall. The illusion of a white spirit reminds of man’s need for spiritual guidance as life’s energy is expended.

The graceful body of the moon angel reaching for the heavenly gold stars and orbits contrasts with the angled face that is seemingly connected to her body below. The distinctive colors flow seamlessly from the rigid face to the flowing body, illustrating the human tensions between mind and body. Faint images of the face’s hands sit in contrast to the moon angel’s fingerless, uplifted hands.
